Excavation Melbourne — Site Preparation & Basement Excavation

Residential & Commercial Basement Excavation Cut & Fill Since 2001

ASAP Piling provides excavation services across Melbourne for residential and commercial construction — site preparation before piling, cut and fill earthworks for sloping blocks, and basement excavation within contiguous pile or sheet pile walls. Combining excavation with piling work under one contractor simplifies scheduling and keeps the below-ground stage of your project moving.

Excavation Services

ASAP Piling's excavation work is designed to run directly off the back of our piling and retention work — meaning the same team that installed the pile wall does the excavation inside it. This removes the coordination risk between trades at the most critical stage of any basement project.

Site preparation before piling: Bulk earthworks to bring the site to the correct level before piling begins.

Cut and fill for sloping blocks: Level establishment on sloping sites where ground levels vary across the building footprint.

Basement excavation within pile walls: Excavation of the basement void inside a completed contiguous or sheet pile wall perimeter, staged as specified by the engineer.

Spoil removal: All spoil is coordinated for removal from site during the dig. For sites with contaminated fill — former industrial land — specialist disposal is arranged.

Basement Excavation Sequence

When excavation follows a contiguous pile wall, the sequence matters. ASAP Piling follows the engineer's staged excavation plan:

  1. Pile Wall and Capping Beam Completed

The pile wall and capping beam are completed and the concrete has reached full strength.

  2. Excavation Begins to First Level

Excavation begins inside the wall, working down to the first level specified by the engineer before stopping.

  3. Temporary Support Installed

Temporary support is installed at the specified depth before digging continues.

  4. Excavation to Final Floor Level

Excavation reaches the final basement floor level and is cleaned up ready for the slab contractor.

  5. Spoil Removed

All spoil is removed from site progressively throughout the dig.
